October in Vienna

Ich bin geistig noch im Oktober, in Wien, bei super Wetter abends an der Donau Wein trinken, in einem prämierten Restaurant der Stadt Wiener Schnitzel essen und als Dessert einen flüssigen Schokokuchen bestellen, spazieren, entdecken, bewundern. Wien ist sehr schön. Am schönsten natürlich, wenn man eine der größten Baustellen Europas besuchen darf und eine private Führung vom Geschäftsleiter der Projektmanagement-Firma bekommt. Mein Studium hat mich schwer gezeichnet, zu ABi-Zeiten hätte ich sowas nicht gesagt....

My mind is still thinking october. Mentally I'm in Vienna, the weather is amazing and we are sitting in the loan, watching the Danube flow while drinking wine, eating original Wiener Schnitzel in an award winning restaurant and having a molten chocolate pie for desert, just like that. Take long walks, discover the city, be amazed, be inspired. Vienna is very beautiful. But it wouldn't have been the same without our tour to one of europe's biggest construction sites with and exclusive tour guide: the managing director of the project management company showed us around. I'm telling you, this was a big hit! Awesomeness materialized in concrete and steel. You see, ever since I started university I must have suffered some serious brain damage, I would have never said such things when I was still in school...

Stell dir vor, du musst in die Uni gehen, und dann sollst du auch noch lernen, und dann gehst du in die Bibliothek, und dann so was! Wer guckt denn da noch ins Buch?! /
Imagine, you had to go to University, and imagine you were supposed to study, so you go to the library and you have a view like this! Who'd ever study?! 

In der Stadt des guten Kaffees. / In the city of good coffee.

Gerade so geschafft eine Runde über den Markt zu schlendern bevor der große Trubel losbrach. / Made it to the market just in time before the crowd arrived. 

 Platz gefunden, Sonne genossen, Leute beobachtet, Kaffee getrunken. / Found a good spot to sit, relax in the sun, do some people watching and drink a cup of coffee.

Da ich dieses Wochenende ja gewonnen habe weil ich zusammen mit Maren den ersten Platz in einem Wettbewerb zum Thema Projektmanagement belegt habe, muss ich sagen, haben wir uns unseren Wien-Trip verdient. Es war viel Zeit die wir nebenher dafür geopfert haben, aber es hat sich gelohnt. Die Aufgabe war spannend und der Hauptgewinn ist unglaublich! Ich sollte öfter gewinnen. Gewinner sein macht Spaß.

My friend Maren and I won this trip. We competed in a student contest on the topic of project management and won the first prize, which happened to be a trip to Vienna including the tour to the construction site. We put in a lot of effort, but it was totally worth it. The assignment was challenging and interesting and the prize is more than we could have asked for. I think I should win more often. I kinda liked it, I think winning might be my thing to do, it's so much fun.
